"THE AVS HISTORY STORY"
AVS
was founded by its President, Frederic B. Squires in 1994. He
approached the dawning of the serious home entertainment/high-tech home
systems era with a unique vision that would set the company apart from
the customary retail-turned-home theater vendor. By steering the
company on a decisively non-retail, professional design path AVS aimed
at working with a client's architects, designers and builders at the
earliest possible stages of a project whenever possible. Ultimately the
greatness of an AVS installation is a direct reflection of the trust
and understanding developed with our clients, and other professionals
involved in the project.
Shortly
thereafter, Stefan Squires (Freds son), joined the firm to help fulfill
that mission by heading up its Engineering Department, bringing an
important background in management, construction and professional
audio/video systems to the firm. In this way AVS could serve as an
important resource of expertise in hardware and low voltage wiring,
working with architects and builders as a team to resolve problems
inevitably encountered in the custom installation process. Thus, the
hallmark of an AVS installation is the precision integration of high
tech electronic systems discreetly, yet distinctively ,.... into the
living or working environment.
While
audio/video systems had been the primary focus of the business, 1999
was pivotal in the direction of the company. Fred saw that it was to
his clients' benefit to develop greater expertise about the integration
of other electronic technologies into the home, such as lighting
systems, advanced structured wiring, video cameras, telephones and
"brains" that could monitor and control all these systems (the
"integrated house" concept). In keeping with this expanded capability,
the company has continued to grow with the addittion of highly trained
personnel in all aspects of the Audio Video Smarthome industry.
Home Theatre
Imagine,
..... relaxing in the comfort of your own home while enjoying the
impact and theatrical experience found at the movies. How is this done ?
Creating
an impressive home theater of your own doesn't have to be costly. It
requires only a few basic components: a video display, surround sound
receiver, a DVD Player and five to seven matched speakers. Prices for
these components vary greatly from place to place, but at Audio Video
Specialists, our goal is to create the finest home theater system
possible while staying within your budget.
Less
expensive systems can enrich your listening and viewing experience
dramatically. More expensive dedicated theater systems can make you
think you've wandered into a brand new state-of-the-art movie theater.
You
can use your new audio video entertainment system to catch the morning
news and weather and enjoy music throughout the afternoon and evening.
Then, at night, take in a movie like you've never seen.
Dedicated Theatre
Nothing
cures your desire for Home Theater like a special private area
called:
" The Dedicated Theater "
It's not just
the electronics. It's the large screen, multiple rows of seating, and
the correct lighting, that all play a part in pulling off a realistic
Dedicated Theater Room.
Let Audio Video Specialists design a
room that the entire family is comfortable in. From a standard package
with seating and accessories, to a full-blown, full-featured '
Themed Theater '
There are many key factors that affect the size and layout needed for a Dedicated Theater Room.
Some questions to ask yourself:
How many people would you like to accommodate?
Would you like multiple rows of seats?
What size screen are you interested in?
Are
you interested in fabric curtain treatments and lighting
accents?
Do you want an area for a snack bar/lobby?
Our Project managers will meet with your architect and designers to acheive the exact look you are seeking.
Our Design Engineers will then create a room to your specifications using our state of the art CAD systems.
When
you are satisfied with the design, we will take you on a virtual tour
of your new Dedicated Theater even before it is built!
Multiroom
One of the most popular home technology product lines these days is
multi-room audio/video. In the last few years the product offerings
have exploded creating new and exciting ways to listen to or watch your
favorite media. Because Audio Video Specialists is at the
forefront of this technolgy we are able to design a complete system for
your specific needs.
Basic System
A basic system would involve wiring to speakers in multiple locations
and controlling them from the source (amplifier). All volume and source
control occurs at the source so all zones play the same music at the
same volume. This is not a great solution for obvious reasons.
Basic System Plus
The next level would be to add local volume control to this basic
system. This is the minimum configuration that gives local control and
it works for many simple applications and is relatively inexpensive ...
but you are still limited to one source of music in all of the rooms
... and you can't change anything but the volume without a walk to the
source unless you.....
add an IR (InfraRed) receiver and to the volume control and you have
rudimentary control of the source. This will allow you to use a remote
control to switch sources etc. and basically control the source
equipment from your location, however, all rooms must still listen to
the same source
Multi Zone/Multi Source
These systems offer much more flexibility. They have a separate
amplifier for each zone and a keypad or a touchscreen in each room that
allows control of not only the volume etc. but also the sources. Now
you can have different music/video playing in different rooms.
Of
course, ..... the choices don't end here. There are many ways to
achieve Multi Zone/ Multi Source control and the costs rise as the
flexibility of the system and user interfaces improve. Multi Room
audio/video can come in many forms and these days there are many
options available.
There
are also heating and air conditioning controls (HVAC) that will easily
intergrate into our multiroom controllers. In this way, you may easily
view or adjust the temperature in any room in the house from a room
that has a touchscreen controller.
How
would you like to answer your front door from any telephone in the
house? See who is at the door before opening it? Talk to one or all
members of your household with the press of a button? Wake the kids up
for school or tell them dinner is ready without leaving the room you're
in?
For
those working at home and keeping an eye on small children, home
systems allow you to listen to and even watch a child's room or play
area through the computer or television. If however, after a hectic
day, you're in need of some quiet time, you can make use of the
do-not-disturb function.
Smart Home
Smart
Home is the term commonly used to define a residence that uses a home
controller to integrate the residence's various home automation
systems.
Audio Video Specialists is proud to be reconized as a leader in this new and exciting field.
The
most popular Home Controllers are those that are connected to a Windows
based PC during programming only, and are then left to perform the home
control duties on a stand-alone basis. Integrating the home systems
allows them to communicate with one another through the home
controller, thereby enabling single button and voice control of the
various home systems simultaneously, in preprogrammed scenarios or
operating modes. Many of the features of the typical Smarthome are
systems that can be added on as the project evoles ie: Multiroom
Audio/Video, lighting, HVAC and security etc.
For
example, a scenario such as I'm Home could be triggered by pressing one
button on a Keychain Remote from your vehicle as you approach the
driveway. The Home Controller receives the Keychain Remote command
triggering a scenario, preprogrammed and stored in the home controller.
The celestial clock in the controller knows that it is 8 pm and past
sunset in your geographical location, therefore, starting the scenario
by sequentially turning on the lighting in the driveway, garage entry,
walkway, hallway, and kitchen. It then disarms the security system,
opens the garage door, unlocks the interior garage entry door, adjusts
the thermostat(s) to a preset home position, and turns on the
whole-house audio system. The home control processor is essentially the
Hub of the home systems network. The Home Control Processor is
programmed to customer specific requirements to initiate sequential
automatic operation of the home systems, in response to "one button"
commands from a system controller, based on the situation and or time.
Illimination
Outdoor
lighting presents many options to create a beautiful showcase
that will highlight your residence while insuring protection of your
property and its valuable contents.
Indoor lighting may surprise you when you see their controls offer endless fascinating qualities.
Touch
one button on your remote or touchscreen labeled "movie time" and your
entertainment system turns on, the shades close, the lights dim, and
the movie starts playing. Set the ambiance for "entertain" or
"goodnight" and the lights and electronic equipment respond
accordingly.
These
are just a few of the customizable options available with Audio Video
Specialists Lighting Control Systems. Whether you want your path to the
kitchen lit at night, a "security" setting in case you hear a bump in
the night or your lights to turn on and off at various times while
you're traveling, lighting control could be for you.
Older house? No problem. Many systems are available that can be retro fitted into existing homes.
Computer Networking
Until
recently, home networks were primarily the realm of technophiles - most
families either didn't need or couldn't afford more than one computer.
But now, in addition to using computers for e-mail, people use them for
schoolwork, shopping, instant messaging, downloading music, videos and
playing games. Some individuals even perform work from home requiring a
secure stable connection to work effectively.
For
many families, just one computer is no longer enough to go around. In a
household with multiple computers, a home network often becomes a
necessity rather than a technical toy.
Setting
up a network is a great way to get more use out of your computers and
peripherals, and to have more fun with them. With a network, you can:
Share a single or multiple Internet connection among multiple computers.
Share files among computers.
Use a printer connected to a different computer or a printer not connected to a computer at all.
Play recorded TV, videos, and digital music stored on your computer on your Xbox 360.
A
network was traditionally set up as wired only. This meant that one was
tethered to a computer. Within the past several years, the wireless
networking market has exploded. Now, instead of being tethered to a
desktop, one can work on a portable laptop computer anywhere within the
"Wireless Network" system. Whether it's in the basement, bedroom or
even in the backyard, one can still be connected to the same network
computer system as if they were connected via wires and enjoy the same
benefits that were explained above.
The
networking staff at Audio Video Specialists are highly trained and
thoroughly experienced. They have the expertise for setting up and
maintaining your home or business computer network.
